Last Friday I was told by a new client that the scheme I had suggested for their new home was too fashionable therefore would become outdated very quickly... they would prefer cream so their home is timeless.
I was gobsmacked, hurt, had a wee hot flush, I just sat in that room wondering where to begin ..
Colour rocks my world, I have never followed fashion (ask my children) I see trends come & go, then come back again. I hear our eldest teenage daughter speak about colours, that are 'so hot right now.' Don't want to burst her bubble and tell her that those colours were very popular in 1996 as well (the year she was born.)
If you love a colour scheme, let it in, it will resonate forever, colour comes from the soul.
Colour was believed by the ancient Egyptians to show the true essence of a person. When our kids were small, they were colour obsessed, everything had to be in their favourite colour it, even down to their lunch boxes. Is this because they were emotionally free? because the world hadn't quite taught them then about 'What will the neighbours think?'Now that puberty has hit, their favourite colours change every 5 minutes. Our teenage son quite likes black, & our daughter just cant make up her mind. Is there a link here?? I think loving colour & having favourites is a state of mind & says so much about you. Those ancient Egyptians knew what they were talking about!
So fashion smashion! Colour is beautiful, it has a power that goes beyond our sixth sense. It can make you feel wonderful, changes your mood & can rock your world if you just let it in. Cream also gets dirty easily & tends to move into 'clotted cream' as it ages. At least go Ecru, white, bone or porcelain to represent your pure soul!
I left the meeting & have to return this Friday with a creme exposé .. I have done it, it is quite nice, the neighbours will have nothing to complain about .. I have secretly thrown in some beautiful healing sage.
Do you think they will notice?
